Dale A. Mirs, 52, of Tripoli, died Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Public visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at Rettig Funeral Home in Tripoli. A private family funeral service will be held at a later date with Rev. Scott Duffus officiating. Burial will be at Grace Lutheran Cemetery, rural Tripoli. Memorials may be made in his name to Alcoholics Anonymous or Covenant Medical Center Horizons of Waterloo, Iowa, 2101 Kimball Avenue, Waterloo, Iowa 50702.
Dale Alex, son of Donald “Jake” and Donna Kasemeier Mirs, was born August 22, 1960, at Sumner, Iowa. He was baptized September 11, 1960, at St. John Lutheran Church, Spring Fountain of rural Sumner and confirmed June 6, 1976, at Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli. Dale graduated from Tripoli High School in May of 1979. Over the years, Dale worked at Beatrice Foods in Fredericksburg, All State in Charles City, and Tyson’s in Waterloo. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli.
He is survived by his mother, Donna Mirs, a brother, Dean (Deb) Mirs, and a sister, DeAnn (Rodney) Lahmann, all of Tripoli; five nephews and one niece, Chris Mirs of Plano, Texas, Leslie (Nick) Kaeding of North Liberty, Blake (Jesse) Lahmann and Bryce (Erinn) Lahmann, all of Cedar Falls, and Beau Lahmann and Brady Lahmann, both of Tripoli.
He was preceded in death by his father, who died December 11, 1993.
